Steven James Harris, US Air Force, Cadillac, Michigan 49601 (GPS N44°14.111, W085°23.626) Steve Harris and I played on Mosser Street and all over Diggins Hill in Cadillac as kids. My family moved away from Cadillac when Steve and I were 13 years old and I lost touch with Steve after the move. I have the fondest of memories of Steve and enjoyed many occasions of visiting his home at the north end of Cadillac and his Mom was always so very kind to me. I am proud to have known Steve and proud to know that he served our country in the Air Force and he continued to serve after leaving the Air Force as an EMT. I was hurt to hear of his passing and know that my chance to re-connect with him has been lost until we meet someday in eternity. If you have a person in your life that you haven't talked with in a while, call or visit them before it is too late for you. Alan Teelander CADILLAC — Steven James Harris, of Cadillac, entered into the gates of splendor into his Savior’s waiting arms on Friday morning, February 5, 2016. He was 62. Steve was born on November 24, 1953, in Cadillac, the third of five children of Thomas J. and Helen M. (Griswold) Harris. Steve graduated from Cadillac High School in 1972 and joined the United States Air Force Fire and Rescue. He later served as an EMT for Wexford County for over 15 years. On February 2, 1991, in Cadillac, he married the former Kimberly Nichols, and they had just celebrated their 25th anniversary. Survivors include his loving wife, Kim Harris of Cadillac; daughter, Judith Harris (Brendan Rooney) of Swift Water, Pennsylvania; son, Matthew (Kate) Harris of Allendale, Michigan; mother, Helen Harris of Cadillac; siblings: Greg (Jan) Harris of Florida, Cindy (Nolan) MacLaren of Cadillac, Fred (Angela) Harris of East Lansing, and Tim (Kathy) Harris of Cadillac, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Harris, and his in-laws, the Rev. Jack and Judy Nichols. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac, with the Rev. Scott Farrell officiating and full military rites under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Burial was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Cadillac.
