Leonard H. Hunt, Company I, 26th Michigan Infantry, and Wife Annie E Hunt, Lowell Michigan 49331 (GPS N42°56.6129, W085°20.250) - Oakwood Cemetery
Born in Manchester, Washtenaw County, Michigan August 13, 1840. Moved to Lowell, Michigan in June 2, 1855. He was reared on a farm. In September 1862 he enlisted in the CO I, 26th Michigan Infantry and served until discharged for disability in March, 1865. He was wounded at Todd's Tavern, Virginia May 8, 1864 and was promoted to Captain. After the war he went into trade as a druggist at Lowell, Michigan which trade he has followed the rest of his life. He filled several public offices, was chosen a Representative to the State Legislature in 1886, and was counted as a worthy citizen and a successful merchant.
Leonard H. Hunt, Representative from Kent County in 1887, was born in Manchester, Mich., Aug. 13, 1840. He removed with his parents to Lowell, Kent County, in 1855, and there he continued to reside the remainder of his life. He received a common school education and was a drug clerk until he entered the army as second lieutenant of the Twenty-sixth Michigan infantry. He was wounded and promoted to be captain. After the close of the Civil War he entered the drug business at Lowell and continued therein the remainder of his active career. He served as supervisor and held other local offices. In politics he was a Republican.
